CLEANING & DESCALING OF ONE COOLING TOWER Cooling Tower Descaling Program Cooling Tower is a device which cools hot water from the machine and sends back in a circulatory pattern. Taking heat from the machines and rejecting the heat in to the atmosphere inside the cooling tower. Machines & Equipment using water from Cooling Tower to remove heat during working conditions. PROBLEM: BIOLOGICAL GROWTH / SLIME Biological Growth in Cooling Tower Fins leads to : 1. narrowing of gaps 2. reduced wind passage 3. ineffective cooling 4. fins going down Continuous accumulation of slime & sludge in water pipelines results in :
• reduced diameter
• slow passage of water
• excess heating on machine Scale formation in pipelines results in :

• damage of heat exchanger tubes Bio-clean pack (BCP ) Treatment Bio Clean pack is unique compbination of various products specially formulated for effective descaling tasks. Pack A : Improves heat transfer in heat exchanging units, condenser coils and pipes. Pack B : Liquid boicide specially designed for acting at high pH. Pack C : Surfactant and penetrant for dispersing microbiological slimes and oil-type deposits in cooling tower systems. Benefits

• Easy to feed. BIOCLEAN PACK Calculation- (1 BCP For Each 50TR ) Eg. For 300TR - 6BCPs 1 BIOCLEAN PACK (BCP) Contains NM40SUS - 5 LTRS ACTICHLOR - 4 LTRS AQUASPERSE - 1 LTRS DEFOAMER ( FC 101 ) - 1 LTR Procedure for using BCP Water PH should be in the range of 6.5- 7.5.- If not add fresh water and circulate and bring the Ph to optimal level of 7.5. Add NM40SUS and circulate for ten minutes. Add Actichlor and circulate for 10 minutes. Foaming may occur during the addition of Actichlor and Aquasperse. So add a maximum of 1 litre defoamer- with dilution 1: 5. Once all the above chemicals are dosed replace the water completely after 1- 3 days and change water completely. DESCALING PRODUCT CALCULATIONNM 50- 1LTR FOR EACH TRNM40 SUS(In case of occurrence of Stainless Steel)-2LTRS FOR EACH TRCBD 92- In case of occurrence of Aluminum) Upto 1.5% of total water quantity. Descaling Procedure with NM50 /NM40SUSSwitch off all equipments..Initially add 10% of the total quantity of Product into the cooling tower and circulate . The Ph of circulating water will be raising above 1(ranges from 3-4) depending on the intensity of the scale deposit). Add 10% of NM50 and again check the PH .This cycle should be continued until the PH remains constant at 1 for at least 3 hours continuously. Change water completely till Ph is neutral. Usage of BP 800 (Optional)After descaling with NM50, BP 800 can be used.to neutralize the circulating water to get a PH of 7- 8.5The quantity of BP 800 = NM50 Quantity x 0.2 litre.For ex. If the NM50 calculated above is 100 litre then BP800 required will be 20 litres.
